Geographic Security System Overview
Today, our communities are exposed to threats, way beyond natural disasters or catastrophic accidents, which require full-scale emergency assessment, mitigation, preparation, response, and recovery. This new reality entails rethinking policies and plans and allocation of resources. Hence, it’s become inevitable for any government or local authority to work on ensuring the safety and security of its citizens, and securing its assets and properties. In fact, the recent world events have served to heighten the importance of this responsibility, and emphasize the need to understand the systems, infrastructure, and the design of everything that contributes to our communities and livelihoods, and ultimately our safety. Moreover, threats don’t only stem from human induced causes such as terrorist attacks or toxic spills, but also include natural causes, such as earthquakes and floods. Such events also require immediate response and action, on all aspects, which include planning, response and recovery.
At ESRI NeA we understand the amount of effort exerted by governmental agencies to ensure the safety and security of our communities. More importantly we realize the vitality and importance of establishing a state of the art, robust enterprise system dedicated towards serving goals of public security and tight control. This section presents our unique solution for safety and security, the Geographic Security System (GSS), based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Our solution addresses the three pillars of safety and security, which are law enforcement, homeland security and public safety.
