ESRI NeA Utilizes its GSM Solution at Mobily-KSA
Date of Publishing: 24-03-08
At ESRI NeA, we realize the vital role that Mobily – Saudi Arabia’s leading mobile operator – plays in the telecommunications business to ensure reliable communications media with appropriate quality of service.
Accordingly, ESRI Northeast Africa (in partnership with FARSI Maps) has been selected to provide a complete GIS Solution and an array of GIS Professional Services that meet Mobily’s requirements. The solution enables Mobily users to quickly generate information to identify opportunities and risks, improve services, and effectively monitor & manage their resources to be able to maximize benefits.
The proposed solution for Mobily is based on ESRI NeA’s GSM GeoManager Solution, which is a package of a variety of suites that enable telecommunications operators to coordinate business priorities and network assets throughout their lifecycle, increase revenue, reduce costs, and accelerate speed to market for new telecommunication products. Our complete solution spatially enables clients like Mobily with components that add advanced spatial analysis, extensive data manipulation, and high-end cartography tools, via an easy-to-use interface that is customizable and extendible. Moreover, in keeping with the latest trends in IT, our solution is based on utilizing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), which facilitates system scalability, interoperability, and integration with existing and future systems. The suites of the solution are as follows:
The Geospatial Infrastructure Suite for instance is a spatial backbone for any telecommunications enterprise; this geospatial foundation backbone is composed of a unified GIS data model upon which a set of GIS Web Services are built representing the global functions used among the enterprise; this geospatial foundation backbone is built in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) infrastructure that is implemented using industry standards (i.e. XML and SOAP).
The Marketing and Sales Suite allows marketers to segment vital consumer and business statistics geographically to provide input to capacity planning applications and direct targeted marketing campaigns. Telecom sales representatives can get quick customer profiles asking geographic questions such as: Where is the customer? Which products and services are in use? What is the distance to the nearest fiber backbone? When do we plan to have coverage at this location?
The Network Planning & Operations Suite provides four modules that cover most of the engineering aspects of the telecommunication network:
-Fault Module
Visualizes and reports network faults, visualizes the affected service/coverage areas, and receives the faults information from a legacy system on regular basis through adaptors to be always updated.
-Coverage Module (Radio Planning)
Displays network coverage (2G and 3G) information such as single cell coverage and composite coverage for both live and planned status.
-Performance & Measurement Module
This Module is essential for creating a mechanism for monitoring network performance through a graphical presentation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) based on pre-defined thresholds.
-Transmission Module
Visualizes transmission links between network elements locations. Transmission links details are displayed when selecting a specific link directly from the map.
As for the Customer Care Suite, it is a crucial interface between a telecommunications carrier and its customers and prospects. It gives call center operators an instant view of customer location, nearby facilities, requests for service, and signal quality. It dramatically reduces service request turnaround times by integrating historical network and customer data with a trouble ticket system. Moreover, it can be used to deliver fast, integrated Call Center information with both Marketing and Engineering staff.
Finally, our Asset Management Suite visualizes a geographic documentation of network element locations which is captured from the various underlying legacy systems of the operator; also, it links the various elements (e.g. BTS/SITE) with the included equipments (e.g. Transceiver, Power Amplifier, Antenna…).
