 Date of Publishing: 24-03-08

ESRI NeA has recently embarked on the path of establishing and developing the GIS Unit for Al-Ahsaa municipality, and implementation is formally expected to begin mid April. A variety of GIS Professional Services will be provided, these include conducting a series of Business Process Modeling activities to identify and redesign processes in the municipality, conducting a data inventory and assessment, and building the geodatabase. This will then be followed by implementation of the system and its various applications. Our services also extend to include extensive capacity building for the GIS Unit’s staff, as well as field survey activities to survey data required by the municipality.

The solution to be implemented is based on ArcGIS Server and SOA technology to allow for future expansions and integrations. The solution entails building a variety of applications that cater to the various activities and tasks that are to be performed by the different entities and user groups utilizing the developed system. The system is also internet/intranet based to allow for easy access by all users. Applications developed cover a variety of functionalities from supporting urban planning efforts and enabling users to display visual and tabular data simultaneously on the map, and access traffic control and licensing data that may affect these efforts, to availing a variety of surveying activities, managing licenses, and enhancing investment opportunities by allowing for easy search and query for investment locations. Moreover, a projects tracking application will be developed to allow users and decision makers to track the various projects and the status of each, as well as manage any affiliated documents or data. This is just to name a few of the system’s planned functionalities and objectives.
